'64 Boys Basketball | Girls Basketball in 1963 | Athletic Hall of Fame ceremonies |
Boys Basketball:
The Braintree High School Athletic Hall Of Fame has selected our '64 Team based on many school records we had established our Senior year:
Only undefeated season,
only team to score 100 points in a game,
most points scored Tournament game (Boston Garden),
Most points (40) in Tournament by a player,
Highest point differential (26) average,
Most consecutive victories (21).All of these were established our Senior year with an all Senior starting "5"
Koen, Scolamiero, Ed Cannon, Paul Sullivan, and Mike Settino
Don Cannon & Ken Jenkins were the other Seniors
John Grugan, Larry Gingrow, Jim White, Tom Dexter, Bill Brown, and the late John Welch were the Juniors on the team.
Managers were Bill Crispin, Tom Kosmo, Bob (Dill) Keefe, Chile Sullivan. Also, the 21 and 1 record is the best in the schools' history.
We also had many of our girls on the '63 Team which will also be inducted the same day.
Braintree High's Athletic Hall of Fame is like no other school's in Mass. & the Administration, Teachers, Coaches, and supporters do a tremendous job in maintaining its long, rich, tradition.
Dave Scolamiero
From Lauren Johnson, who thinks it appeared in the Patriot Ledger following a girls basketball team victory over Wellesley. This was the class of 1963 girls team which is being inducted into the Braintree Hall of Fame, along with the class of 1964 boys team. Lauren and others from our class played as juniors on the team. The team went on to win the state title.
